PERFORMANCE TEAM

PERFORMANCE TEAM

Our Performance Teams are aimed at the more serious dancer who wants to achieve the best results and are driven to work hard.

Commitment from the dancer and their parent/guardian is vital as these classes will need to reach certain standards, which will mean attending every scheduled lesson, daily practice and a yearly commitment.

Dancers will be trained for examinations, competitions and also for all of our performances throughout the year.

PERFORMANCE TEAM STYLES

CLASSICAL BALLET

Dancers are trained in a very technical and structured way whilst also improving their performance quality, which aids this craft.

As classical is the basic foundation to all dance forms, performance team dancers, including solos, duo or trio dancers must attend one ballet class per week.

All ballet classes are taught as exam classes using the appropriate level syllabus. It is not compulsory for dancers who attend ballet class to participate in the actual exam, however it is greatly encouraged.

From ‘Grade 2 and above’ dancers must be attending at least two ballet classes per week to partake in the exam.

The syllabus also includes theory, improvisation, character dances and pointe work.

DANCE CONDITIONING

Training dancers to understand the depth of muscle memory, improve core stability, weight placement, stretching, strengthening and lengthening of the muscles to improve alignment and achieve their personal best.

This class is encouraged and required for all dancers who wish to be part of performance teams

JAZZ

Incorporates and trains dancers to improve jazz technique such as; kicks, turns, leaps and partner work, choreography and combinations.

All of which are fast, energetic and a lot of fun.

HIP HOP

Street Dance styles. Breaking, locking, and popping require skill and experience to perfect.

While breakdancing consists primarily of moves executed close to the ground, the majority of hip-hop moves are executed standing up. Technique, strength and endurance are a major focus.

Dancers with a good sense of rhythm find it easier to learn hip-hop steps.

MUSICAL THEATRE & SINGING

Performers are taught theatrics that combine songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. Our faculty focuses on all three areas of musical theatre to fully equip our performers with the appropriate skills should they wish to pursue a career in this highly reputable industry.

During the 12-month course performers will also work through a range of subjects such as characterisation, script reading, audition techniques, interpretation and musical theatre history.

TAP / STREET TAP

Training your feet to move and beat to rhythms.

Dancers learn technical steps which will form warm ups and amalgamations to create routines from the 40’s through to now.

LYRICAL / CONTEMPORARY

Lyrical is a combination of ballet and jazz, allowing total freedom to express the words or feelings of a song.

It tells a story to your audience and your movements and emotion should bring the song and story to life.

Contemporary has a stronger sense of strength in its movements and can be on a higher level of impact.

ACRO

Acro is a gymnastic style incorporating flex and strength to build basic acrobatic moves eg: cartwheels, walkovers, aerials and acro structures.

Thanks again Renee for yesterday's workshop for the kids.

Lucy absolutely loved it. As wonderful as you and your teachers are, I think it gives the kids a taste and experience of the bigger world of dance out there. See and learn from other’s accomplishments etc etc. It was great.
